How to – Bridesmaid accessories
Here at Rewritten we are constantly being asked which shoes, bags or jewellery are the perfect complement to our dresses. So here goes, our tips for the ultimate in bridesmaids accessorising…
Shoes
In our opinion there are a few shades that you can’t go wrong with – pale silver & gold metallics, nudes and even, dare we say it, ivory (for bridesmaids, what?).
From March to October it is totally acceptable to rock an open toe sandal – they look better than closed and there are now so many great chunky heels on the market that sinking into grass needn’t be a worry. In the winter months your poor bridesmaids feet will benefit from a closed toe and they will love you all the more for it. Trust us.
The high street have some great options from Zara, Topshop or Boohoo or look to Charlotte Mills, Harriet Wilde or Rachel Simpson for very cool, more bridal specific styles. If money is no object, Emmy London creates the most wonderful bespoke styles.
Bags
It is a bridesmaids duty to be in charge of crucial items such as lipstick, chewing gum and usually the brides phone in addition to their own necessities and so a clutch bag is a must.
For a more casual look go for different clutch bags in contrasting matching shades or add a bit of texture with a beaded or embroidered bag. You can’t go wrong with an envelope clutch – classic, chic and most importantly something they will want to wear again. If they don’t pour red wine over it or lose it of course.
Call us biased but we think our range of ‘PROSECCO MADE ME DO IT’ pouches are just perfect for the big day - choose from blush pink, neutral white or dusky blue. At £15 each it would be rude not to quite frankly.
Jewellery
Whether necklaces, earrings or rings, it’s all about tiny, delicate pieces, layered and stacked to perfection. There is nothing nicer than a dainty drop or little hoop earring combined with a thin gold choker or pendant – look to brands such as Carrie Elizabeth, Missoma, Astley Clarke or Dinny Hall for failsafe stackables. If bigger pieces are more your style stick to earrings so as not to fight with the neckline of your dress. Call it personal preference but we are all about the GOLD.
